we get dressed up like this and wonder out into the streets on some random Saturday - October 31st. i was pressed to describe the meaning of Halloween three times, which was harder than i thought. stop right now and see if you can do it off the top of your head.....

i believe i used such words as: pagan, ancient, trick or treat, honoring the dead, silliness, and children. im sure THAT helped to clarify things for the curious. jeez...
i dressed up as Bong Jovi - the word 'bong' meaning 'sister' or 'brother' in Khmer - a familiar term for a peer. i would call anyone who's right around my age 'bong': Bong Caroline, Bong Tara, Bong Benji.
since i had the unfortunate hair incident, i decided to be Bong Jovi. my friend came along to complete the groupie crew. here we have a group photo.

Hard to explain?! All Saints Day (Nov. 1) is also known at All Hallows. The evening before, All Hallows Eve, or Halloween (Hallows evening). Remembrance of the saints who went before. What could be simpler? Now, explaining the dressing-up weird-like... well, you're on your own. Maybe we can chalk it up to the Celtic festival, Samhain. :) Leon
